Chile's Atacama Desert has sprung up in bloom following heavy downpours in this year's Godzilla El Nino. What a pleasant surprise !!
The floral phenomenon — where dormant seeds bloom in spring after high rainfall events — is known as desierto florido, or flowering desert.
The spectacle will not last for much longer as the landscape is expected to return to normal from November.

reading by candle light
isn't it pure delight?
cosy comfort,
legs tucked up under,
absorbed in a world
in the book immersed
holding one in thrall
through the windy night....
a glass of wine soothes
sweet fragrance of fading blooms
lingers in the air
stillness, warmth, soft light
from the flickering candle
the wind howls in the distance,
the rain beats rhythmically
against the window panes....
hmmm... reminds me of Anusha ... close curtains no matter what time of day it is....
